As a women-owned events company, Curio Events Group has proud roots in the hospitality industry, offering a thoughtful stress-free approach to event planning. Led by Karrie Johnson and Sarah Wingfield, Curio Events Group offers a leadership team with more than 20 years of combined event planning experience, working with some of the best vendors and venues in the business.
Karrie and Sarah met in 2006 while both working at Choice Hotels International, one of the largest hotel companies in the world. As team members and fast friends, Karrie and Sarah both shared a passion for hospitality and a dream to one day start an events company of their own. This mutual dream eventually became a reality—
Curio Events Group.

Sarah Wingfield

Prior to co-founding Curio Events Group with her business partner Karrie, Sarah has planned countless prominent events in the DC region, including weddings, rehearsal dinners, social events, fundraisers, nonprofit and corporate receptions. She previously spent more than 10 years with Choice Hotels International, planning internal and external events. From leadership and board retreats to the company’s 6,000+ person annual convention, Sarah has planned numerous large upscale events across the U.S. and Europe.
A Maryland native and current DC resident, Sarah graduated from the University of Maryland, where she was a cheerleader for the men’s football and men's and women's basketball teams. (Go Terps!). When she’s not dreaming about planning her next event, Sarah enjoys spending time with her husband, their two beautiful children, their two Boston terriers Bean and Bae, and her quarter horse July Jackson.

Karrie Johnson

Karrie has been busy planning events for close to 15 years. Most recently, she worked with Sarah at Choice Hotels, where she planned sales meetings, incentive trips, and prominent client events, including the Choice Hotels Annual Convention with 6,000+ attendees.
Before Choice, Karrie worked on trade shows and large-scale conferences for National Conference Services, Inc. (NCSI), where her clients included the U.S. Department of Defense and other organizations in the intelligence community. Karrie attended Salisbury University, where she graduated with a degree in marketing, and currently calls Baltimore home with her husband.
Her favorite thing to do (apart from planning events, of course)? Travel! Some of her favorite destinations include Italy, where she studied abroad for a semester in college, and New Orleans, where she got married. Karrie also enjoys staying active, with yoga and road biking, almost as much as she enjoys relaxing at a country music concert.
